BC Soccer Web Reader Responds To CSA Budget 2009

By Richard Howes BC SoccerWeb

One of our readers, a prominent Canadian businessman, has responded to our article Proposed CSA Budget 2009 Revealed? published earlier this week. These are his observations…

I took the liberty to do a Budget Analysis with the information provided. The Analysis takes an Average of 2007 and 2008 financial figures and compares them against the 2009 Budget. The idea is to see what the CSA plans to do with the increase in player dues.

Proposed CSA Budget 2009 Revealed?

By Richard Howes BC SoccerWeb

A typewritten, unsigned cover note read: “This may be of interest to you. One of several versions of the CSA budget for 2009. Not sure if this is the most current version.”

The numbers appear to correspond with what little detail the CSA has released. At the very least, the numbers likely provide some insight into the CSA’s income sources and spending priorities at a level of detail not typically available to the general membership.

This kind of information is very pertinent however as the CSA conducts its tour of the provinces seeking an increase in the player registration tax it collects from the provincial associations. The BC Soccer Web cannot and does not vouch for the validity or accuracy of this information, it is published here as received, in the interests of transparency.
