Mr. Ojo I am an African who was born in South Africa. This article is my proof that we africans are unique and smarter than what the rest of the world thinks. Perhaps it even proofs that we are smarter than the rest of the world. God bless you sir.

Good article.

Both of my children engage with SAAC in their inaugural year; my son was 16 and my daughter was 11. Although at the time I felt the need to try something new in order to improve my Son’s experience with the game, I had no idea my daughter would benefit as much as she has.

The SAAC emphasis on training, technical, and fitness through certified international accredited coaches is a formula that simply works. Players with potential have a tremendous opportunity to improve their skills at a pace appropriate with their physical capabilities. Age and gender confined boundaries are removed leaving players with the ability move to a suitable developmental level. I can’t say there has been a time when either child returned home with a facial expression other than a smile.

Although I agree in what a Soccer Academy should be like, one can not take credit from individuals who know and teach about the game just because they do not have their own facilities. Example clear is what the statistics show. Do you think that all these foreign soccer players in Europe did actually go through a soccer academy like the one described above? They learned soccer from the streets in front of their own houses and from people that know about the game and not from the ones owning soccer facilities.
Maybe what we should be concentrating our efforts on is in finding out how we can make better soccer players out of our own Country Men. My suggestion, start from finding out what makes these other professional players, professionals in the branch of soccer. Certainly not a Building, although it would help, it is more the teacher than anything else. So let's start learning about the game before becoming phylosophers in the subject. Sorry, one more thing, this learning does not come from being involved in the game for so long either, it comes from being committed to the game and to the opportunities it brings socially and not financially. It is a team sport, beautiful in its variety, and rich in its essence.

Well this is indeed a new twist!

Jimmy Cannovan counseling Canada on what academies should be.

If any one knows about "not good enough" it is definitely Cannovan as evidenced by his 15 years of failure at the helm of the OSA 's Technical Department.

Having Cannovan give advice on any aspect of soccer is akin to getting advice from the captain of the Titanic on how to avoid icebergs....

One of my favourite historical quotations seems appropriate here, given that Mr. Cannovan had the full financial support of the entire Ontario registration base for 15 years also "without having developed a quality player, far less, a world class player." (Many would not give him any credit for the handful of decent players produced in this province in that time)...

“… the concept is easy. Any idiot can have a good idea. What is hard is to do it.”

Hi,
I just wanted to know how you select 11 and 12 years old players
from all over canada. Is there a place and time where everybody will have a chance to show there skills? There are lot of talented players who may be part of the team but have no opportunity to show it.

Please let me know the way how selection is done and I will share it with many people who may be interested.

Thanks,
