Nick De Santis Says sex and the city the movie dvd download
It’s great to see another Canadian market get to the highest level of soccer (in North America). It goes to show clubs like Vancouver, Toronto FC and ourselves belong at the highest level.

Of course, hearing about Vancouver and knowing what our vision is and the way we do things, we should be there, too. That we’re not is a bit disappointing, but in the end I believe the club will always work to better itself in every aspect, be it on the field or in administration.

I also believe in (team president) Joey Saputo’s vision, which is to see the franchise compete at the highest level. One day it will happen.

Honduras vs Montreal Impact 2:0
SUNRISE, Florida – The Montreal Impact lost 2-0 (halftime 0-0) against the Honduran national team (40th position in FIFA ranking), Sunday, in its first pre-season game at the soccer complex, in Sunrise, Florida.

The Impact conceded both goals in the second half. The first came in the 47th minute on a penalty and the second was scored in the 62nd minute.

“We did very well defensively and offensively in the first half but we did not take advantage of excellent scoring chances,” said Impact head coach John Limniatis. “In the second half we made a few mistakes that cost us the two goals. Against a team of this quality there is no place for errors. But the result is not important. Today’s game was a good preparation for us.”

Goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic, defenders Adam Braz, Cédric Joqueviel, Nevio Pizzolitto and Stephen deRoux, midfielders Leonardo Di Lorenzo, Tony Donatelli, David Testo and Joey Gjertsen, as well as forwards Roberto Brown and Peter Byers were on the starting lineup.

Braz left the game in the first half after being cut near the eye and was replaced by newcomer Kevin Sakuda. Alex Surprenant, Félix Brillant and Massimo Di Ioia came into the game in the second half.

It was Montreal’s second loss in 11 preseason games (7-2-2), since the beginning of training camp.

The Impact will play its second exhibition game in Florida, this Thursday at 7:30 pm, against a Haitian selection.

The Impact will kick off its regular season April 18, in Charleston. The Impact will play its home opener Saturday, May 9, as they host the Rochester Rhinos at Saputo Stadium. Season tickets are currently available by calling 514-328-3668.

Back Story
The Montreal Impact has sold more than 42,000 tickets for the quarterfinal game of the CONCACAF Champions League, on February 25, at Olympic Stadium.

On Zits
“I was a kid, or maybe I was a little older. I had a few zits so I was 15 or 16, but I came to the games here. And for all of us, it’s a great opportunity to showcase our team.”

On The Coach
“We were playing a half time game at the Manic game and, before the game, myself and another player were introduced to the coach, Eddie Firmani. Ten years later, he was my first pro head coach, so there were good memories here.”

On Big Crowds
“Everyone’s excited. We’re expecting a big crowd and we’re ready to go.”

On Dreams

“Soccer’s come long way. It’s like an impossible dream, but with a lot of hard work over the years, on and off the field, we’ve accomplished something extraordinary. Hopefully we can do well and it will continue to grow.”

Back Story
The CSA has scheduled one friendly — vs Cyprus on May 30 — in preparation for this July’s Gold Cup.

On Winning
“They’re not going in to win it. We’re going to play one game in May to prepare for the Gold Cup? How real are you being trying to compete at a high level internationally?”

On Knowledge
“It feels like we’re taking a step backwards. That’s the feeling in the whole association. They lack knowledge about the present game.”

On Amateurs
“The players we have were good enough to make the World Cup, I don’t care what anyone says. I heard statements from the coach where he said the team wasn’t good enough … but this team for me was the best team, but it was just the way he went about it, we went about it like a bunch of amateurs.”

“You’re not going to make everyone happy if you don’t have a proper plan about going about it. But if they’re going to just go about it like amateurs and waste our time then it doesn’t really make it interesting for all the guys. We’re not playing a provincial tournament here, this is a different level of football and they’re taking it like a provincial tournament.”

On Restarting
“They should bring everything down and start again. They know what needs to be done but it’s like, ‘Uh, it might cost a bit too much,’ or they don’t want to make too much effort.”

“I don’t know. I’m lost for ideas right now. I already gave all my ideas out and they put them in their back pocket and sat on it.”

Toronto FC's new goalkeeping coach Mike Toshack is delighted to have the opportunity of working for TFC.

Back Story
Toronto FC’s new goalkeeping coach Mike Toshack returns to Canada.

On Moves
“It’s a fantastic move for me.”

On Canadians
“Being a Canadian and seeing the way the club is going, it’s something that I really want to be a part of. For me it’s very exciting to come and work here.”

On Worlds
“It’s a small world in the coaching profession.”

On John Carver
“I know a couple of people who have worked with John Carver; Simon Smith at Newcastle United and Tony Caig a goalkeeper I worked with at Houston. They both had great things to say about John. From my days at Houston, I know he’s a great competitor. I’ve met Chris Cummins and got on well with him.”

On Greg Sutton
“I know Greg really well. I coached at St. Lawrence University in New York and had Greg for four years there. Then I worked with him at the professional level at the Montreal Impact where we enjoyed some success.”

“He’s become a great goalkeeper. He’s always had a tremendous athletic ability and a good work rate and now you see him maturing into a first class goalkeeper.”

TFC racks up another winless, scoreless effort ... this time at home against expansion San Jose.

Back Story
TFC racks up another winless, scoreless effort … this time at home against expansion San Jose.

On Dominating
“I thought we threw everything at them with the players we had available. I thought we dominated the game, our goalkeeper had nothing to do and our defenders defended well.”

On Needing Help
“I can’t rely on a young kid to go out there and perform, but I’ll tell you what, he’s not bad either. He did ok today, but I can’t keep throwing him in there, I’ve got to protect him and look after him, so yes, we need more than one (striker), it’s pretty obvious.”

On Marvell Wynne and Maurice Edu Heading To Olympics
“I’ve decided they’ll go after the Real Salt Lake game, I think they (USA team) wanted them to go on Wednesday after our game against Montreal on Tuesday, but we’ve had a little chat and I’ll release them on the Tuesday straight after the game against Salt Lake. Let’s be honest, Marvell Wynne has been one of our most consistent players, he’s a big player for the team. But I’m not going to stand in anybody’s way on their way to maybe get a medal in the Olympics. We also lose Mo Edu, which is tough with the slight problem with Kevin Harmse¹s knee which is why Tyler Rosenlund came in.”

John Carver Head Coach, Toronto FC

On Too Many Good Players
“It’s always tough when you dominate the game from beginning to end and you get plenty of chances, but that’s the way this game goes. We’ve got to take the positives out of it and you know, we’re happy with the way we played, the last final third we just couldn’t find the back of the net. That just takes some luck sometimes; we’ve got too many good players on this team to not have success.”

On Tuesday’s Game Against Montreal
“It’s extremely important for us, obviously it’s important to get through to the next round and continue on in this tournament. We’re not going to take this game lightly by any means and we know Montreal, it’s come down to their season, we’re excited, we’ll be ready to go Tuesday.”

Greg Sutton Goalkeeper, Toronto FC

On Luck
“I thought we deserved to win, we had the better of the scoring opportunities and I don’t know if Greg (Sutton) had to make too many saves today. Overall I thought we had the more dangerous chances, it’s one of those things those balls didn’t go in for us today. We had a penalty kick, we had a one on one, on another day those things go in. But we’ll start getting our luck back again and hopefully we can get that on Tuesday.”

Tyrone Marshall Defender, Toronto FC

Back Story
TFC’s three game winning streak came to an end as Toronto tied 1-1 with the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field.

On One Pointers
“We got a scruffy point, as I call it, we’ve not really been on top form, we’ve not really played a great deal of football. But I will not fault their effort, I thought their effort was fantastic.”

On Disappointments
“They’re disappointed in there, and they’re disappointed because they know how far we’ve come.”

On Altidore
“I described Altidore as an Emile Heskey from England cuz most of the guys know him. And what I said to them was, don’t get too tight, don’t allow him to roll you have a distance so he doesn’t know where you are, then you win the ball off him and I think that worked. I thought whatever side he was on both fullbacks dealt with him real well.”

On Backlines
“But I must sit here are also compliment the back 5. I thought the goalkeeper and the back 4 were outstanding for us, and that was the platform for us to get something from the game. I thought the midfield 4 and the 2 worked their socks off, I thought there was great energy in there, but they tried things and things didn’t come off for them and that sometimes happens. I will not fault their effort, you can see the team ethic in the side and they’re working for each other. That’s what I want.”

John Carver head coach, Toronto FC

On Toughness
“They came out pretty strong in the first half, they had good possession of the ball, I don’t know it was just tough they came out hard but so did we.”

On Perfection
“If this was last year and we were to get a tie at home, we’d be all over the place, saying at least we got a point. Now knowing what we can do, we want to try for perfection as much as we can.”

Marvell Wynne defender, Toronto FC

On First Goals
“It was a great ball, I didn’t have to do much, just head it in. It was my first goal in MLS since joining this team, I was just pretty excited, I love being out there with all the fans, and I just felt the passion. I don’t know I just ran around yelling.”

On Everybody
“I just wanted to get everybody involved in the celebration, when I score I feel everybody scores, so I wanted everybody to be involved and celebrate at the same time.”

Marco Velez defender, Toronto FC

On Playing In Toronto
“This is the best place to play in opinion the fans are great, uh .. they’re loud, they chant, they’re unbelievable. I don’t mind them throwing stuff on the field as long as it’s not projectiles that can hurt me I don’t mind it all, I think it’s great, you just don’t want to see anybody get injured with a water bottle or anything, but the fans are the reason why I love playing here.”

“I will probably speak on behalf of all my players but we probably wish we could play in an environment like this week in and week out because as we talked on the pregame talk, most of the players just thrive on the challenge of playing in front of 20,000 and there was great feeling and I think my players performed very well today in front of a lot of people, and took the challenge and did very well today.”

“We were the better team over the 90 minutes, with the better options, we controlled the game for the most part, we’re happy with the point but we could have won it I think.”

Juan Carlos Osorio head coach, New York Red Bulls

On Left Footers
“We talked about who had the better option, considering the wind it was going to be an easier ball for a left footer guy because for a right footed guy the wind would have slowed it down, I contemplated bending it over the wall but the wind was pretty strong so I figured I had most chance on the goalie’s side and I put Claudio in the wall to block his sight just like New England did against us, I figured it worked for them.”

On Chances
“Given the fact that they had a 1 nil lead I thought we played well, we played on the ground and limited them to nothing at all really. They didn’t have any significant chances or shots on goal and I thought we played fairly well.”

Dave van den Bergh midfielder, New York Red Bulls

Back Story
Toronto FC made it a two game win streak as Laurent Robert gave TFC fans a winning goal in yesterday’s home opener against Real Salt Lake.

On Defense
“We’ve had one or two critics about the way we defended, I thought the second in particular we had to defend, it was the cliché game of a game of two halves, and it certainly was today. But I thought we defended ever so well, we put our bodies on the line, I thought Sutz (Sutton) took the pressure off us by coming and taking a few catches which helps your back four. I thought the midfield worked their socks off and defended well, as did Danny Dichio, and Guevara.”

On Ricketts
“I thought the first half he showed glimpses of excitement which is why we got him. The second half he tired and that’s why we changed him. I changed my two wide guys I could of possibility done it earlier but I wanted fresh legs on.”

On Fanaticos
“I think it was a little more than I imagined. You know you can talk about it, but once you’re out there and experience the occasion then there¹s nothing better. I’ve had some great occasions in my life, and it has to be on the top of the list, I mean the fans were fantastic I’d like them to continue for 90 minutes, but it¹s certainly going to be an intimidating place to play and we to make it that.”

John Carver head coach, Toronto FC

On Luck
“To win the game is the most important thing, it doesn’t matter who scores. It is important to play, win and enjoy, and today I did all of those things and I am very happy here. We played more defensive in the second half but we kept the ball and managed to win the game. I was lucky because the free kick was very close to the box and I knew the wall would jump so I thought I would put the free kick on the floor and it worked.”

Laurent Robert midfielder, Toronto FC

On 3 Points
“It was great to be back out there and play at home again. After winning at LA it was important to get a good result. There is no point working so hard to win in LA if you come home and don’t get the three points, so it was crucial to win. I didn’t think the fans could get better than last year but judging by what it was like today, it was even better.”

Carl Robinson midfielder, Toronto FC

On Tough Places
“This is a tough place to play so we dropped off a little bit and seemed to give them a lot of room and some space to play. Second half I think we turned things around and Jason (Kreis) told us to go at them and you could tell by what happened. We had our chances but didn’t put of them away.”

Nick Rimando keeper, Real Salt Lake

On Tales
“It was definitely a tale of two halves I think that we came out tactically and played that game a little bit wrong to be honest, I think the coaching staff takes full responsibility for us sitting back, perhaps we should have pressed them from minute one.”

On Half Time In The Locker Room
“I just said that I thought there were two big things tactically, we had to press them as we would at home, treating it as though it was our game for the first 15 minutes I didn’t expect we’d be able to do it for the whole half, but they did, credit to them. Our guys were giving the ball away a bit needlessly in the first half, I thought just the soccer needed to be better as well.”

Jason Kreis head coach, Real Salt Lake

On Next Times
“We felt we battered them in the second half which is something we just gotta work on. We gave up a goal that could have been prevented; we’ll just work for next week.”

“We felt we got enough to tie it up and get something out of the game, but it just wasn’t our day. All credit to them, they got the goal and held us out so which just need to keep working harder and hopefully we’ll get some better luck.”

Kyle Beckerman midfielder, Real Salt Lake

Frank Yallop is a happy man again.

Backstory
Yallop is a happy man again. Happy he’s out of LA. For Yallop, the LA barnstorming circus is over.

On Honesty
“I don’t look back, to be honest.”

On Experiences
“When I was in it, I tried my best. I just put it down as experience. I got through it. I felt my head was just above water when I came out of it.”

On Endings
“In the end, what I liked about it was that the players never gave up on me. That was important to me as a coach. I felt pretty proud of the way we got it together and nearly did it when everyone had written us off.”

On Fans
“The fans were great to me.”

On Jobs
“The ownership group is fantastic here, as it was in LA but it’s a completely different feel. That’s what I like about it. They let me get on with my job.”

Frank Yallop head coach, San Jose Earthquakes

Backstory
Toronto FC opened First Kick 2008 in the great state of Ohio, Buckeye country.

On Cheap Beer
“We got a jug of beer for $8 (Friday) night. Back home we pay double that. So, yeah, we’re enjoying ourselves.”

On Columbus Mobs
“We had been singing ’3-nil’ all night, but we took it down to 2-nil at one point because the Columbus mob was so hospitable.”

“Good town, good people.”

James McMullen TFC fanatico (London, ON)

On Giveaways
“They kept coming up to us in Austin Powers T-shirts, carrying Alanis Morissette CDs and trying to give us flowers. That’s pretty much how it went down this morning.”

Adam Fox Crew tailgater

On Soccer Love
“We all love the sport for what it is. Sometimes it’s hard to support a distant club in England. Having a hometown team makes it a lot easier.”

Jesse Winders TFC fanatico (Whitby, ON)

On Swaps
“I saw the Columbus (Crew) flag and decided to come over and say hello. I travel to a lot of games, and I always like to swap scarves and stories.”

Charlie Morrison TFC fanatico (Toronto, ON)

On Molson Canadian
“Yes, but I always drink this.”

Ann Marie Borghes Crew tailgater
