De Rosario Receives Huge Honour

toronto fc Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been named to the 2009 MLS Best XI, an annual award recognizing the League’s top 11 players at each individual position on the field. The 11 is comprised of one goalkeeper, three defenders, five midfielders, and two forwards.

De Rosario, 31, makes his fourth appearance on the list in his nine year MLS career and he becomes the first player to be named to the Best XI with three different clubs. He is also the first Toronto FC player to make the list in three seasons.

“It’s a huge honour to be selected, and even more special this time around because I’m back home,” said De Rosario. “I know I have a lot of young fans, and anytime I get recognized, I hope they use that as motivation to follow their dream of becoming a professional soccer player.”
