Knight: Another day, another de Guzman
Just two days after Julian de Guzman was named Canadian International Player of the Year by the fans, his younger brother Jonathan has been named a first-team all-star in the Netherlands’ top division.
It was close – a winning margin of fewer than 1,000 votes – but there’s the 20-year-old attacking midfielder from Feyenoord – and Toronto – lining up in the centre of the park with the best of the best from one of the world’s premier soccer leagues.
A huge honour, which will undoubtedly crank up the pressure on young Jonathan to join the Dutch national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifying run.
